CBSE IX SA -1 Economics Demo Videos

Hi, children, I am Nirmala. And today we are going to do chapter number 2, People as Resource. This is the index of the lesson. And the first question which comes in our mind is, what is a resource? My dear children, anything which is useful is a resource. For example land, buildings are resources because they all are useful. Also water, forest, machinery, minerals etc, etc. all the things which we see around you are actually known as resources because they are useful. Then another question comes in our mind that what is human resource. Population is known as a human resource and the reason is because they contribute to the growth of the country. The following two cases will illustrate how people can try to become a more productive resource.
So, here we are going to start with understanding exactly how can population become a productive resource. A productive resource is that which will help in the production of goods and services. So, people can actually help in producing goods and services.
Let us understand this through the story of Sakal. Sakal was a twelve year old boy. His mother Sheela looked after domestic chores. Well, his father Buta Chaudhary worked in an agricultural field. Sakal helped his mother in domestic chores. He also looked after his younger brother, Jeetu and sister, Seetu. His uncle, Shyam, had passed the matriculation examination but was sitting idle in the house as he had no job. That means my dear children, his uncle was jobless. What we call as unemployed. Buta and Sheela were eager to teach Sakal. They forced him to join the village school which he soon joined. He started studying and completed his Higher Secondary Examination, wow. His father persuaded him to continue his studies. He raised a loan for Sakal to study a vocational course in computers. What do you mean by vocational course? They are those courses which help individuals to acquire non-academic skills related to specific occupation. For example electrical technology, banking, bakery, tailoring etc. Let’s go further and find out what happened with Sakal. Sakal was meritorious and very much interested in studies from the beginning. So, he was actually enjoying his computer course. What happened then, with great vigour and enthusiasm he completed his course. After sometime he got a job in a private firm. He even designed a new kind of software. This software helped him increase the sale of the firm, that’s superb contribution by Sakal to his company. Let’s go further, his boss acknowledged his services and rewarded him with a promotion. So, this is what happened with Sakal. Thanks to education and training which he did through the computer course.
Now, let us go further and meet another friend of his by the name of Vilas.
